The draft Law on wages will be published on Monday. Minister of Labor: “We are on a track and a good start”

The interim Minister of Labour, Dragoş Pîslaru, stated on TVR Info that he cannot guarantee that the draft law on unitary wages in the budget system will be “a success”, this will be seen in the Parliament, at the vote, but with the agreement of the parties, “which seems to be a gesture of maturity and responsibility, we are on a track and a good start”.
“This law is more than a series of corrections to bring equity and place everything in a unified grid. This is very important and I think that if you leave honestly and professionally, with some clear assumptions that you don't try to outbid afterwards, there are better chances. I can't guarantee that the project will be a success, that will be seen in the Parliament, when it is adopted, but I can make sure, with the experience I have and with this effort of praised by the political parties, which seems to be a gesture of maturity and responsibility, we are on a track and a good start”, said Dragoş Pîslaru, quoted by News.ro.
The interim Minister of Labor declared that next week, on Monday, the project will be launched in decision-making transparency, there will be consultations with unions and occupational families, a process that will last approximately two weeks.
“Then we will send it to the Parliament, to the parties, to take it through an accelerated procedure and adopt it completely before August 31”, emphasized Dragoş Pîslaru.
The minister recalled the principles from which this project started.
“We had some meetings in which we explained the principles, the pillars from which we start: income protection, first of all, that is, no one loses salary income as a result of this reform. Again very important things: we adopt everything at once, that is, not gradually, not in pieces, not by occupational families and, perhaps more important than anything, the fact that we have a unitary salary, so no sector is more special than another, in a grid made on the basis of objective assessments made by the World Bank in the period 2022-2024”, emphasized Pîslaru.
The interim Minister of Labour, who held this portfolio a decade ago and also tried a change in the payroll sector then, pointed out that, in the absence of a political agreement, a reform of public sector payroll is not possible, he is of the opinion that this time the financial conditionality imposed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan can be decisive.
