The Hungarian government led by Péter Magyar has decided to abandon the plan to withdraw Hungary from the International Criminal Court, a change of position that was formalized by publishing the decision in the Official Gazette, informs 24hu.
The announcement was made by the Hungarian Prime Minister himself, who wanted to point out that, with this decision, the Budapest executive reaffirms its commitment to maintaining the international legal order and the functioning of multilateral institutions, as well as its support for international criminal justice mechanisms.
At the same time, the government ordered the drafting of a bill to repeal Act XXX of 2025 on the denunciation of the Statute of the International Criminal Court, a document adopted at the United Nations Diplomatic Conference in Rome on July 17, 1998, as well as the Agreement on the Privileges and Immunities of the International Criminal Court, adopted in New York on September 10, 2002.
The project is to be submitted to the National Assembly, according to the same source.
