The government wants to increase the number of places in nurseries. Donald Tusk revealed the details

Statistics presented during today's government meeting show a clear increase in the number of places in nurseries over the last three years.
The Prime Minister announced that in December 2023, the number of places in nurseries was over 226,000. places, in April 2026 almost 272 thousand places, and the target at the end of 2026 is a total of 326,000. places.
This means that from the moment the ruling coalition takes power, a total of 100,000 people will increase in Poland. new places for kids.
– This means that nearly 80 percent kids at nursery age will have access to a nursery place – calculated Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Disappearing “white spots” on the map of Poland
The government places great emphasis on ensuring that new facilities are not built only in large agglomerations, but primarily in places where they have been lacking so far. It's about the so-called white spots – communes where at the end of 2023 there was not a single nursery operating.
At that time, there were as many as 1,105 such communes in Poland, which constituted almost half of all local governments in the country. Thanks to intensive actions, in April 2026 this number dropped to 717. The Prime Minister also revealed the optimistic forecasts of Deputy Minister Aleksandra Gajewska, according to which this number will soon drop below 500.

A nursery for every child born
Importantly, the state finances and supports the creation of nursery places, regardless of whether they are public or private facilities. The tool that makes this possible is a program “Active parent” (colloquially called “grandmother's”). It consists of three pillars for parents of children aged 12 to 35 months: “Active parents at work”, “Actively at home” and a key component in this context “Actively in the nursery”.
Under the latter option, parents can count on funding for up to 1.5 thousand PLN per month (or to 1.9 thousand zloty in the case of a disabled child) to cover the costs of the child's stay at the facility (this amount does not include meals).
Prime Minister Tusk, however, drew attention to the second, sadder background of this infrastructural revolution. — We are so satisfied that soon there will be almost a 1-to-1 ratio of these nursery places. This means that there will be as many nursery places as there are births. But not only because we are building nurseries so intensively, but also because fewer children are being born, the head of government openly admitted.
