Bucharest City Hall announces that it has started the steps to recover a public space in the Piața Rosetti area, used in the last decade in a way considered abusive and generating debts of millions of lei.

“Businesses with subleased AFI properties! We give you an example! The Christian Democratic Peasant National Party received from PMB, through the Real Estate Fund Administration, in 2015, a building and a yard. For headquarters! Both in Piaţa Rosetti, on Bd. Carol I, of 1,833.69 sq m, respectively 959.36 sq m. At a rate according to the contract of 6,851.45 lei (VAT included). A few months later, in September 2016, the party sublet a part of the space to another company – LGR CONCEPT IDEA SRL, which opened a terrace, and then built a restaurant. the representatives of the Capital City Hall wrote on Facebook on Monday.

The calculation sheet prepared by AFI shows a monthly rate of almost 4,500 euros/month in the off-season, respectively almost 6,000 euros/month in the season.

The calculation was made on the basis of the CGMB decision 426/2018 regarding the regulation of contractual relations regarding the spaces with a destination other than that of housing under the administration of the Municipality of Bucharest. The amount should have been collected by the state for the use of the built space and the courtyard, but from 2016 to 2024, those with the restaurant in the PNŢCD courtyard did not pay, so the debt amounts to 480,000 euros. Only from 2024, after the controls, AFI made the commercial company pay for the space used, the representatives of the Municipality drew attention.

He did not do it this time either, so that, at the end of last month, SC LGR CONCEPT IDEEA SRL recorded a total debit of 2.3 million lei, including penalties. Moreover, in 2023 the court ordered the eviction of PNŢCD from that building due to the expiration of the contract and non-payment of rent accumulated over time. At the end of April, the party also appeared in the AFI records with a debt – 329,074 lei, including penalties.

“Now, by the order of Mayor General Ciprian Ciucu, all these illegalities cease! The space that belongs to the patrimony of the Municipality of Bucharest is recovered and will become legal. And the outstanding debts will be recovered! Colleagues from the Local Police of the Municipality of Bucharest started decommissioning the restaurant last week. And they will continue these days. Access to the courtyard of the building was blocked on Saturday with a car, and today with a padlock on the gate. But we do not give in! The heritage of the city cannot be abused by those who earn a lot of money from it.” added the representatives of the Capital City Hall.

The Local Police of the Municipality of Bucharest say that the decommissioning operation started at the end of last week.

“Although access to the courtyard of the building was blocked on Saturday with a car, and today with a lock on the gate, this week the works will continue according to plan”according to a post by the local police.
