The largest multipurpose hall in Romania, the one in Brașov, is more than 70% ready. In order for the works to be completed, the Government approved an additional budget for investments in the arena under Tâmpa.

In the middle of this week, the value of the investment from the multipurpose center in Brașov was increased from 404 million lei to 646 million leiso that in the near future the new hall will be completed, according to radiobrasovfm.ro.

The multipurpose building in Brașov was supposed to be completed in the last months of 2025, but the plan did not work. Now, the work is going in the right direction, but new amounts were needed to complete the work. The government approved in the middle of the week the updating of the technical-economic indicators, increasing the value of the investment by 242 million lei.

“During the development of the design and execution contract, a series of events took place, including of a legislative nature, which led to an increase in the value of the investment, as well as to the reconfiguration of the technical solutions. It was also necessary to adapt the technical solutions to the changes in the technical standards and regulations in force”, the statement sent by the Executive stated.

  • “Additional work includes: modification of the routes and circuits of all installation specialties, modification of the facade lighting system, changes related to the electrical installation, supplementing the list of sports equipment in order to obtain the approval of the Multipurpose Hall for the highest competitive level for basketball, volleyball, handball, tennis, gymnastics, boxing, wrestling, mini-football, karate, judo, ballet, modern dance”, according to the source cited above.

The multipurpose center in Brașov will be the largest in Romania

Upon completion of construction, Polivalenta in Brașov will be the largest hall of this type in Romania. Regarding its capacity, there will be two integrated halls (a large one with a capacity of 10,059 seats, a secondary one, for warm-up or for lower-scale competitions – 1,152 seats), which together have 11,200 seats.

The hall was built with money from the National Investment Company and Brașov City Hall.

The Brașov multipurpose center will host multisport competitions (court tennis, table tennis, basketball, handball, futsal, badminton, volleyball, boxing, gymnastics, shooting, weightlifting, fencing, karate, judo, sports dance), concerts, congresses, symposiums or openings.

The field will be equipped with a demountable parquet, adaptable to different sports, approved by FIBA ​​in the case of basketball competitions. For handball, there will be a special PVC floor.
