Coco Gauff reached the final at the Foro Italico, after stopping the absolutely fabulous run of Sorana Cîrstea, whom she defeated 6-4, 6-3 in the semifinals. On the other side, Elina Svitolina defeated Iga Swiatek (24 years old, 3 WTA) 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 in the penultimate act of the competition in the Italian capital.

UPDATE at 18:15: It started raining in Rome and the final is postponed by about 40-50 minutes. The doubles match between Hunter-Pegula and Andreeva-Shnaider was stopped in the second set.

It is the third final in Rome for Svitolina, who won the tournament twice, each time defeating Simona Halep in the last act, in 2017 and 2018. On the other hand, Coco Gauff will contest the second, after the one in 2025.
Saturday night's match will be the second final of the season for the two players in the WTA 1,000 tournaments.
3-2 is the overall score of the meetings between Coco Gauff and Elina Svitolina, the tenth player in the world imposing herself in the two confrontations this year.
The Ukrainian and the American are in the second-to-last act in this year's 1000-category tournaments. Svitolina was beaten in the final in Dubai by Jessica Pegula, while Coco Gauff lost to Aryna Sabalenka in Miami.
