The 76th minute brought the second elimination for Thun: Bamert was sent off, and immediately Bedia scored from the penalty spot for 7-2. With nine men, Thun managed to score again through Bertone in the 79th minute, but Young Boys had the final say: Fassnacht scored in the 81st minute to make the final score 8-3.

FC Thun achieved the first trophy in its 128-year history

FC Thun took over the top of the table in October and did not relinquish it until the end of the season. The team was promoted to the first division at the end of last season.

Founded in 1898, FC Thun had never before won a major trophy. The club first reached the first division in 1954, but were quickly relegated and spent decades in the lower leagues. They returned to the first stage in 2001, but their best performance was second place in the championship in 2005.

In recent years, the situation has been even more complicated. The team was close to bankruptcy and spent five seasons outside the first league. The performance earned them a qualification for the UEFA Champions League qualifiers
