City Council Deputy Semyon Sendersky believes that in Krasnoyarsk it is necessary and possible reduce the duration of summer hot water shutdowns by at least half, that is, from 10 to 5 days. In his opinion, modern technologies make it possible to repair networks faster, relieving residents of long-term inconvenience.
The people's choice wrote about this on his social networks after the publication of the SGC schedule on new lengthy pipeline inspections.
“10 days without water is a test, but it’s time to admit: this standard is outdated. Already today, in some areas of Moscow, outages last only 48–72 hours. It’s time for us, in Krasnoyarsk, to make sure that a “comfortable urban environment” starts with the basics—hot water on tap all year round,” Sendersky urged.
He referred to the position of the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing and Communal Services, Vladimir Koshelev, who had previously statedthat all cities with a population of over a million can and should move away from the practice of long-term water supply shutdowns.
“I fully support my colleague’s position: modern technologies make it possible to carry out diagnostics and repairs much faster. To do this, it is necessary to speed up the replacement of networks, introduce modern materials and automation, and use bypasses. Robotic flaw detectors and “X-ray” pipes make it possible to find weak spots without large-scale excavations, and a technical solution using a workaround allows for continuous operation of the system. Completely eliminating shutdowns is not a matter of one year, but reducing the period to 5 days across our city is a real task for the near future,” says Semyon Sendersky.
