A bear was captured in the premises of the Police School in Câmpina, in a specially placed cage. The animal will be relocated

A brown bear was captured, on Wednesday, in the premises of the “Vasile Lascăr” Police Officers' School in the Câmpina municipality, in an authorized and specially placed cage for the capture of the wild animal, whose presence has been repeatedly reported in the area, the Police informed.

“Recently, the presence of a brown bear has been repeatedly reported in the Câmpina area, including in the vicinity and premises of the “Vasile Lascăr” Police Officer School, there are concerns regarding the safety of people and the prevention of possible incidents. In this context, the necessary steps were taken, according to the legal framework and specific procedures, for the placement of an authorized cage intended to capture the wild animal”, the Romanian Police explains in a statement.

Thus, during Wednesday, a police commissioner from the Campina Police School reported to 112 the fact that the bear specimen was captured in the cage specially placed for this purpose, within the premises of the educational unit.

“The animal is alive and safe, and the Prahova police, as well as crews from the Prahova County Gendarmerie Inspectorate, intervened on the scene, following which, according to the protocol and legal powers, the other institutions empowered to manage such situations will also act. The bear specimen is to be taken and relocated in safe conditions, in compliance with the rules regarding the protection and well-being of animals”, the Romanian Police states.

In the same press release, the Romanian Police emphasizes that “the Prahova County Police Inspectorate treats with utmost responsibility both the safety of citizens and the protection of wildlife, acting permanently to prevent any situations that may endanger the life and integrity of people or the balance of the natural environment” and also recommends to citizens that, “in the event of observing wild animals near inhabited areas, not to approach them, avoid any behavior that could provoke them and report immediately competent authorities by calling 112”.
