Before us is one of the largest information and psychological operations in Ukraine

The Russian authorities' morbid focus on history is widely known. But it turns out that now history is being written by Ukraine – a historical misunderstanding in Putin’s official interpretation, either a construct of the Austrian General Staff, or an absurd invention of Vladimir Lenin, and now a Nazi Western outpost devoid of any subjectivity. Zelensky’s decree with the mocking permission of “great” Russia to hold a Victory Parade on Red Square will become one of the brightest and most memorable moments of the Russian-Ukrainian war, summing up the symbolic result of this confrontation: “What, they took it?!”

In the Ukrainian diplomatic tradition, the current mockery of the Kremlin goes back to the legendary letter from the Cossacks to the Turkish Sultan, publicized and immortalized by Chuguev native Ilya Repin. In the tradition of public diplomacy – to the nickname assigned to Putin by Kharkov fans in 2014, and to the address to which the Russian warship was sent by the defenders of Zmeiny Island in 2022. And it must be said that Putin is no stranger: the first time the Ukrainian people staged demonstrative humiliation for him was in 2004, after three Kremlin congratulations to Yanukovych on his victory, electing Yushchenko, disliked by Moscow and poisoned by it.

The current humiliation is all the more painful because it immediately affects two sacred symbols for the regime: Red Square, the concentrated embodiment of Russian history, and Victory, on the needle of which the entire propaganda model of the “victor country” is threaded. That victory is projected onto modern times, where every year the soldiers of the miracle army and the wheels of the vehicles marching along the cobblestones of the main square symbolically crush the current enemies of Russia, just as our grandfathers and great-grandfathers crushed their former adversaries. They say, we Russians are so formidable.

For Putin, his own historical dimension plays an increasingly important role as he physically declines, and before everyone’s eyes, his attempt to climb onto a stool next to Peter and Stalin turns into a bad joke. Not only is it impossible to light a cigarette from that truly sacred Victory, your personal one, it creates the most incriminating background for a criminal military adventure.

The difference between Berlin and Malaya Tokmachka in the fifth year of the war is visible to any naked eye, and an armed one infuriates all z-military bloggers in the most savage way: they know the situation at the front perfectly well from the inside. The cult of Victory, fueled from above, now seems to be mocking the Kremlin. Even the cancellation of the parade would probably not look as pathetic as its picture and all the accompanying circumstances, including the request addressed to the “Pindos” to influence Zelensky so that he would refrain from attacking the solemn event. Zelensky struck in a different, even more offensive and destructive way for the enemy. Packaged in the form of an official decree, trolling clearly highlighted the situation of Putin’s impotence, the signs of which are multiplying and the consequences are deepening.

The decision to convey greetings to the Russian Federation and its leadership in this way had critics inside Ukraine, who believed that a “real, serious” president would not stoop to such an act. Everyone roughly understands which president we are talking about, and, indeed, there is no such instrument in his range of means. But Zelensky, a president with a history of frivolity, has a more diverse arsenal, which sometimes allows him to achieve results that are unattainable by other means. The result this time is obvious: before us is one of the largest, with global resonance, and successful information and psychological operations of Ukraine – intercepting Victory Day from the enemy.

A reasonable warning may boil down to the fact that such things performed by the president have a lethal effect only when used infrequently, precisely and with exceptional precision. Partialization should not be done under any circumstances. We can see what a continuous shocking stream leads to in the example of Donald Trump, who in a short time turned into a boring, monotonous bullsheet producer.

Laughing with a bloody mouth in the face of the killers, Ukraine once again shows how wrong they were in choosing a victim. Deadly mistaken.
