In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, a 75-year-old resident of the village Sergeevo Yenisei Okrug received a suspended sentence for illegal extraction of valuable fish and possession of a carbine. This was reported to the prosecutor's office and the police.
It was established that at the end of August 2025, a man, using a Yuzhanka motor boat and a rafting net, caught five sterlets and one Siberian sturgeon in the waters of the Yenisei, in places of spawning and migration of fish. He cut up the fish and froze it for later consumption.
The damage to the state amounted to 505 thousand rubles, of which the poacher compensated 100 thousand rubles voluntarily.
The police seized fish and nets, and also found a TOZ-16 carbine of 5.6 mm caliber at the pensioner’s home. The unregistered firearm previously belonged to his brother, and after his death, the fisherman kept it for 25 years on the principle of “it will come in handy on the farm.”
The court found him guilty of committing crimes under Part 1 of Art. 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, paragraph “b”, part 1 of Art. 256 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, Part 1, Art. 258.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and sentenced him to 2 years of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period of 1 year. In addition, the amount of damage was recovered from him, and in order to compensate for it, a Chevrolet Niva car was seized.
