Guinea pigs do not affect the child’s immunity in any way. This was stated by Tyumen pediatrician Konstantin Morozov, writes Vslukh.ru.

According to the specialist, some parents get this pet because it is less likely to cause allergies and helps improve health. However, in this aspect, guinea pigs are no different from cats and dogs. Allergies to them, although less common, still happen.
Much depends on genetic predisposition. If there are no allergies in the family, keeping a pet can be beneficial, especially in the period from three to six months, when the body quickly adapts to new allergens.
For people who already suffer from allergies, the situation is reversed. Every new allergen in their environment is a potential risk of triggering the so-called atopic march. This is a process in which allergic reactions progress through the stages of dermatitis, rhinitis and can lead to asthma.
In addition, with close contact with a pet, there is an active exchange of microbiota inhabiting the body. Thus, pigs have an indirect effect on the immune system.
