A failed suicide blew up an entire house along with its neighbors when she wanted to commit suicide: she opened the burners and decided to smoke her last cigarette
48-year-old Elena from Vladislavovka, Crimea, told police that she “desperately fought for her existence” and decided to commit suicide because of debts.
The woman opened the kitchen burners and then wanted to smoke the last cigarette, deciding that if she left the room nothing would happen. As soon as the woman struck the lighter, an explosion occurred.
The blast wave collapsed the roof of a one-story apartment building. An 82-year-old resident died as a result of the explosion.
Elena herself received burns covering 25–30% of her body. Her 60-year-old neighbor was admitted to a local hospital with a closed head injury and several broken ribs.
