A series inspired by a Hollywood blockbuster is coming to streaming. Vin Diesel's announcement ahead of the 11th film in the “Fast & Furious” franchise

A series based on the hit “Fast & Furious” franchise is in development for streaming service Peacock, NBCUniversal announced on Monday, Reuters reports.
Actor Vin Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto in the films, announced the series will be coming to the small screen during a presentation to advertisers at Radio City Music Hall.
Although Diesel mentioned that four TV shows were in the works, the official statement issued by NBCUniversal later confirmed the development of only one project in the “Fast & Furious” universe.
The executive producer of the series is Vin Diesel, according to People magazine.
The actor admitted that he was initially hesitant about the sequels, fearing that expanding the story of the team of illegal racing drivers could prevent the original film from becoming a landmark in world cinema.
“Fast & Furious”, special screening at Cannes
However, this concern has been dispelled. On Wednesday, the Cannes Film Festival will mark the franchise's 25th anniversary with a special midnight screening, honoring it as a classic film.
Diesel will attend the Cannes screening alongside several of his film co-stars.
Since the first “Fast & Furious” film in 2001, the 11 films in the series have brought in more than $7 billion at the box office worldwide.
So far, 10 main films have been released in the “Fast & Furious” series, plus a spin-off film, “Hobbs & Shaw”, starring Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Idris Elba.
The celebration of the franchise extends far beyond the screen. A new “Fast & Furious” roller coaster is set to open at Universal Studios Hollywood this summer, and another attraction is planned for Universal's Orlando theme parks.
“Over the past decade, we've realized that fans want more,” Diesel said, noting that viewers are eager to see the continuation of the franchise's legacy stories.
When is the next Fast & Furious movie coming out?
Diesel praised Donna Langley, NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios president and chief content officer, who oversees film and television programming.
“I had to wait until the time was right,” he said. “It became the right time when Donna Langley started overseeing everything. That's when we knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal and what makes us all feel like family would be protected in the TV space,” said the 58-year-old actor.
The final film in the “Fast & Furious” saga is scheduled to premiere on March 17, 2028. In June 2025, Diesel hinted at the upcoming film and an appearance by the late Paul Walker in a certain role.
The 11th film in the main series, “Fast Forever,” has long been rumored to be the last in the franchise, according to People. “Fast X,” the latest film in the franchise, has grossed more than $700 million at the worldwide box office upon its May 2023 release.
