Donald Trump will go to China. The White House conveyed his plan


The White House presented plans and goals for Trump's upcoming visit to Beijing on Sunday in a press conference call. The key effect of the summit is to be the establishment of two common institutions: China-US Trade Council and China-US Investment Council. Both will conduct ongoing consultations in the area of ​​trade and investment.

White House deputy spokeswoman Anna Kelly said that the agreements with Xi are intended to balance trade with China. Administration representatives did not disclose many details of the planned arrangements, but they denied reports about China's proposal of “massive” investments in the US.

A representative of the US administration emphasized that last year's agreement to suspend export restrictions on rare earth metals is still in force and is to remain in force until October 2026, although officials refused to answer the question whether it would be extended.

China, Iran and Russia. Security agenda

An anonymous White House official stated that Trump intends to raise the issue of China's support for Iran and Russia. This includes financial support in the form of revenues from the sale of hydrocarbons, as well as Beijing's supply of materials used by the arms industries of both regimes – despite Western sanctions. In addition to trade, Trump is also expected to touch on China's rapidly expanding nuclear arsenal.

A White House representative admitted that Despite Trump's repeated announcements about including China in arms control talks, Beijing has consistently refused to participate in such negotiations and has not changed its position on this matter.

Program of the visit to Beijing

Trump will arrive in China on Wednesday evening local time. The next morning, he will attend a welcome ceremony and a bilateral meeting with Xi Jinpingin the afternoon the two leaders will visit the Temple of Heaven together, and in the evening the American leader will appear at a state banquet. The next morning's program included an intimate tea party and working lunch with the Chinese leader, after which Trump would embark on his return trip. The visit program does not include a press conference.
