Portuguese central defender Guilherme Araujo Soares (25 years old) announced that he no longer continues at The oil and next season. He posted a parting message on social networks, before the away game with FC Botoșani, ended in a tie, score 1-1.
Guilherme has not been part of Mehmet Topal's plans in recent months. He has not played an official match for three months. On February 10, he played in Sănătatea Cluj – Petrolul 1-3, in the groups of the Romanian Betano Cup.

Soares arrived in Romania for free in July 2024, coming from Braga's second team. He played for Poli Iași, a club that was relegated at the end of last season.
Throughout his career, apart from Braga and Politehnica Iași, he also played for one season at Oliveirense, being also a member of the Lusitanian U18 national team.
Petrolul is currently in 13th place, first in the standings, with 25 points, tied with Farul Constanța. If he achieves the same result that Constanta achieved in the last stage, he will avoid the play-off place.
