At the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation, special operation participant Dmitry Kharitonov was given the keys to a new manual car. The car was handed over by Governor Mikhail Kotyukov.
Dmitry was wounded in the battle near Pavlovka. After the attack was repulsed, he waited for the evacuation of his wounded comrades and only then left the battlefield. In the chaos of the battles, documents and a fighter's badge were lost. He himself was urgently sent for surgery to St. Petersburg.
“The doctors saved my life, and caring people helped me find my family, because I myself didn’t remember anything after the injury. My father recognized me by my eyes,” Kharitonov shared.
A native of the Krasnoyarsk Territory was awarded the Order of Courage. After rehabilitation, he returned to duty. Now the veteran works at the military registration and enlistment office, is finishing his studies at Reshetnev University and leads an active lifestyle. He is a member of the regional sitting volleyball team and participates in adaptive sports competitions. In honor of Dmitry, a “Hero’s Desk” was opened at Krasnoyarsk school No. 175.
The Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation’s program to provide specialized transport to soldiers with leg wounds has been running for the second year. In 2024, President Vladimir Putin approved this initiative of the foundation's chairman, Anna Tsivileva.
In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, 12 SVO participants have already received new cars. A car as a means of rehabilitation helps veterans maintain mobility and lead a normal lifestyle.
