Putin thanks Kadyrov for tens of thousands of Chechens “fighting heroically” in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked the leader of the Republic of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadîrov, for the support provided in the war in Ukraine and wished him success in the general elections that will take place in Russia in September.

“I want to thank you, all the Chechens, all those who live in the republic, for your enormous help in the special military operation (in Ukraine),” Putin said during a meeting with Kadyrov in the Kremlin, according to images broadcast by Russian state television, EFE and Agerpres report.

Putin emphasized that the Chechens “fight bravely, heroically and, as we know, are real warriors.” They “fight for Russia and for little Chechnya, loved by all Chechens. And they do it with dignity,” the Kremlin leader added.

According to him, “in reality, more than 71,000 Chechens actually participate in the special military operation, and of these more than 20,000 are volunteers.”

Under the leadership of Ramzan Kadîrov, Chechnya “has changed radically in recent years”, and this “is a major, significant and visible result for all those who live in the republic”, the Russian president also stated.

Therefore, he expressed confidence that Chechens will vote for Kadyrov in the general elections to be held in Russia on September 20.

For his part, Kadîrov, who has ruled the North Caucasus republic with an iron fist for almost 20 years and shows his loyalty to the Kremlin at every opportunity, assured Putin that he would continue to support him and that he would not let him down.
