The end of the paralysis of the US Department of Security? All you need is Trump's signature
The impasse over funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been ongoing since February. This resort includes, among others: Immigration and Border Protection (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Democrats blocked the adoption of the new budget and demanded thorough reforms in the functioning of the ICE immigration services.
The lack of payments paralyzed airport checks
The bill does not include funding for ICE and CBP. Republicans will try to pass appropriations for these agencies separately. However, ICE has secured funding for its operations for the next several years thanks to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act previously passed by Congress. Similarly, funding was guaranteed to CBP.
The bill was previously adopted by the Senate and will now go to the president's desk. Once Trump signs the bill, it will end the longest partial government paralysis in U.S. history.
One of the effects of the government's paralysis were long queues for check-in at airports. Many Transportation Security Administration employees left their jobs or took leave because they were not paid during the shutdown.
