Russian attack on the border of Romania. F-16s were picked up from the ground, 15 drones tracked by ground radars
The Ministry of Defense monitored, on the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, Russian attacks in Ukraine, near Tulcea, 15 drones being tracked by ground radars. No drone entered the national space, but an RO-Alert message was issued in the north of Tulcea county, MApN announces.
“On the morning of Wednesday, April 29, Russian forces carried out a new series of drone attacks on civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, in the vicinity of the river border with Romania, in Tulcea county,” announced the Ministry of Defense.
According to the army, two F-16 aircraft from the Air Police combat service took off, at around 01.10, from the 86th Air Base in Fetești, and the authorities alerted the population of the north of Tulcea county through the RO-Alert message.
“The National Military Command Center (nucleus) notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations regarding the establishment of alerting measures for the population of N Tulcea county, being sent, at 01.12, a RO-Alert message,” MApN said.
Ground radars tracked two groups, consisting of seven and eight drones respectively, that hit the town of Ismail, in Ukraine.

According to MApN, F16 aircraft pilots reported multiple explosions on the Ukrainian side of the Danube, in the Ismail area, but no radar signals were detected in the national airspace.
The air alert ended at 2.40am.
“MApN informs the allied structures in real time about the situations generated by the attacks, staying in permanent contact with them”, the institution noted.
Drones fallen on Romanian territory
Last weekend, a Russian drone fell on the night of Friday to Saturday in a residential area of the “Trajan Barrier”, the northern border area of Galaţi municipality, during a massive Russian airstrike in the area of the Ukrainian city of Reni. The drone had an explosive charge, and the authorities evacuated over 500 locals.
Later, on Saturday, MApN announced that in Tulcea county, remains of another drone were discovered at a farm in Văcăreni.
And on Sunday, another drone, with an explosive charge, was found between the towns of Luncavița and Văcăreni, in Tulcea county.
