US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that Iran has informed the Americans that it is “in a state of collapse” and wants the US to open the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible.

“Iran has just informed us that it is 'in a state of collapse'. They want us to 'open the Strait of Hormuz' as soon as possible, and they are trying to resolve the situation with their authorities (I believe they will be able to do it!). Thank you for your attention! President DONALD J. TRUMP,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social website.
President did not reveal who exactly conveyed such a message to the Americansnor what exactly was its content. Iran has not confirmed that it wants to open Hormuz, Axios noted.
As American media reported on Monday, Iran presented the United States with a new peace proposal that focuses on resolving the crisis around the Strait of Hormuz and the American naval blockade. Under this proposal, nuclear negotiations would only begin at a later stage. According to media reports, Trump and his national security team are skeptical of the Iranian proposal.
