The underground tremor was reported around 9.30. Residents in Oslo reported shaking of buildings and a loud bang, and the quake was also felt in Hamar, 150 km north of the Norwegian capital.

According to the Norwegian center Norsar, the magnitude was 3.6, and the European seismological center EMSC gave a higher value – 4.4.
Norwegian police said that despite numerous reports of felt tremors, there were no reports of injuries or major material losses. Videos appeared on social media showing swinging lamps, shaking walls and moving apartment furnishings.
Experts assessed that weaker aftershocks are possible, but they will probably not be felt by the country's inhabitants.
According to Norsar, it was the strongest earthquake in the Oslo area since 2004. The historically strongest quake near the Norwegian capital was recorded in 1904; it had a magnitude of 5.4 and caused serious damage in the south of the country.
The strongest quake in Norway in recent years was a 6.2-magnitude quake in the Svalbard region in February 2008. No fatalities were reported, but aftershocks were recorded several years after the event.
