Peter Magyar says Orban's oligarchs are fleeing the country and transferring their billions to the Emirates, the US or other distant countries

Oligarchs associated with Viktor Orban have withdrawn their children from school and are transferring tens of billions of forints to other countries, such as the United Arab Emirates, the US or Uruguay, before fleeing Hungary, Peter Magyar, the winner of Hungary's parliamentary elections, accused in a message posted on social networks on Saturday.

Peter Magyar, the leader of the Tisza party, called on the prosecutor general and the police chief to arrest “these criminals who have harmed the Hungarian people with thousands of billions of forints and not to let them flee, before the formation of a TISZA government, to countries where they cannot be extradited.”

“Orban's oligarchs transfer tens of billions of forints to the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Uruguay and other distant countries. We learned that the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) of Hungary, following information from banks, suspended several important transfers related to Antal Rogán's circle under suspicion of money laundering,” wrote Peter Magyar on his X account.

The future Hungarian prime minister also accused that several media outlets in Hungary are being prepared to be sold below the market price and called on investors not to buy assets with “mafia” links.

“I have also been informed that several oligarch families have already left the country and that the Mészáros family is expected to travel to Dubai in the coming days. According to reports, several influential oligarch families have already withdrawn their children from school and are preparing reliable security personnel for their departure,” Peter Magyar added.

In legislative elections on April 12, nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban lost to pro-EU conservative Peter Magyar, whose party won a two-thirds majority in Parliament in a vote marked by a record turnout in the Central European country.

Peter Magyar's Tisza party won 141 seats, while Viktor Orban's Fidesz-KDNP got 52.

Viktor Orban announced on Saturday that he is retiring from the Hungarian Parliament.

Hungary's National Assembly is set to hold its inaugural session on May 9, when the new members will be sworn in.
