White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is going on maternity leave. “You all have the president's personal number”

The spokeswoman of the White House, Karoline Leavitt, announced that she is going on maternity leave for the birth of her second child.

“This will certainly be my last press conference for a long time,” said Karoline Leavitt, Friday afternoon, during a discussion with accredited journalists at the White House, reports News.ro.

“As you can see, I'm going to give birth at any moment. I know you'll be in very good hands with my team here at the White House, and I know you all have the president's personal number,” she joked, her hands resting on her round belly.

On her Instagram account, Leavitt spoke of the “immense joy” she and her husband initially felt when they learned of this new pregnancy. “My second thought was, 'How am I going to juggle work, a toddler and pregnancy?' Well, 39 weeks later, we did it!”, she wrote.

The White House has not announced who will replace her

The US executive has not appointed a replacement or an official replacement, and according to the media, senior officials such as Vice President JD Vance may occasionally hold press conferences at the White House in her place.

Also, the White House has not communicated anything regarding the duration of the leave that the spokeswoman, who is already the mother of a little boy born in July 2024, will take.

Karoline Leavitt, 28 years old, is the youngest person ever appointed to the position of “press secretary” of the White House. In the summer of 2024, she resumed her work on the campaign team of Donald Trump just days after the birth of her first child, a return hastened by the assassination attempt of which the Republican candidate was the victim on July 13, 2024.

She is married to Nicholas Riccio, a real estate developer.
