The reason for the closure is the bankruptcy of the management company Clothes 3000. The legal entity filed an application for its own insolvency with the Moscow Arbitration Court in March.
The financial problems of the network became known at the end of 2025, Kommersant notes. In February 2026, Clothes 3000 JSC officially notified of insolvency, identifying the Chinese importer Shanghai Newidea International Trade as its creditor. Previously, the company lost two trials and had to pay 44 million yuan (about 569 million rubles).
As RBC writes, the founder of Modis, entrepreneur Igor Sosin, former co-owner of OBI and creator of the Old Man Hottabych network, died in December 2020. After his death, according to experts, the brand lost its development strategy and began to experience operational problems.
In addition, in 2025, 28 clothing and footwear brands left the market, 23 of which were Russian. Buyers began to save money and purchase non-essential goods less often.
