Auchan has closed a store located in a key area of Bucharest after six years: “A decision considering our business expectations”

The supermarket chain decided to close the supermarket it had in the Obor store, writes Ziarul Financiar.

The decision to close the supermarket comes six years after it opened. The supermarket was located in the basement of the store, which created operational difficulties for the company, it reports.

“Closing Auchan Obor was a business decision, considering our expectations regarding the economic model. Also, the location of the store in the basement generated, over the years, a significant degree of operational complexity, with specific logistical challenges that affected the efficiency and, sometimes, even the shopping experience of customers. This decision was not an easy one and came after more than six years of operation”, the company told ZF.

The main competitors in the area for the Auchan store were Obor Market in the immediate vicinity and a Carrefour supermarket in the basement of Veranda Mall.
