Israel did not persuade me to go to war with Iran, but the effects of the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023 convinced me, said US President Donald Trump on Monday. He again accused the media of publishing fake news.

“Israel never persuaded me to go to war with Iran. The effects of October 7 (the invasion of Israel by the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas on October 7, 2023 – PAP) confirmed my belief that IRAN CAN NEVER HAVE NUCLEAR WEAPONS,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. He accused the media of publishing false polls and news.
“90% of what they say are lies and made-up stories, and the polls are rigged, just like the 2020 presidential election. Just like the results in Venezuela, which the media doesn't like to talk about, the results in Iran will be amazing – and if Iran's new leaders (regime change!) are smart, Iran can have a great and prosperous future!” – he added.
It is not clear what exactly was Trump's reason for posting the entry, but he wrote about the significant influence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the US decision to attack Iran, among others. The New York Times daily. This is also a common accusation leveled against Trump by right-wing commentators from the MAGA movement, who turned against the president over the war with Iran. This includes: about Tucker Carlson, once an informal advisor to the head of state.
Polls show that the war does not enjoy the support of the vast majority of Americans and contributes to the president's weakening approval ratings. According to an NBC News survey published on Sunday, 67 percent respondents are against the war, of which 54 percent strongly, and the overall level of approval for Trump reached its lowest level since the beginning of this poll – 37%.
