Zoltan Iașko, the sports director of those from Farul Constanța, spoke about the change on the team's technical bench, after the departure of Ianis Zicu, but also about the Ioan Ovidiu Sabău option.
The official from Constanta explained how the appointment of Flavius Stoican was reached and why Sabau was not an option for this moment.
Zoltan Iașko, about bringing in Flavius Stoican: “I made the decision overnight”
Farul had to react quickly after parting with Ianis Zicu, and the management chose an experienced option, according to the Dobrogean club official:
“We were surprised by Ianis Zicu's decision. I myself talked to him and told him never to take decisions in anger. It happened once more during the championship that he wanted to give up and, just like that, the next day he changed his mind. It surprised us all, I tell you honestly.
He had all our support, we were always by his side. That's the life of coaches. Related to Flavius Stoican, he is an experienced trainer who has taken it upon himself to come a few stages before the end. He knew us, he knew the team, he knew the conditions and together we are trying to save ourselves from relegation. We didn't have a list of coaches ready, we made the decision overnight,” said the sports director of Farului.
Asked if Ioan Ovidiu Sabău was taken into account, the Lighthouse official explained why the issue of collaboration was not raised.
“I know Ioan Ovidiu Sabău well and he is like Mr. Hagi, he plans everything in advance. There was no problem”, concluded Iașko, according to digisport.ro
Play-out standings
Flavius Stoican replaces Ianis Zicu on the technical bench of Farului, and the debut will be a complicated one, against FCSB. The game is scheduled for Monday, from 8:30 p.m., at home, in the 5th stage of the play-out.
At this moment, Farul occupies the 6th place in the play-out, at the limit above the barrier places for relegation, and the duel with FCSB is an important one in the economy of the end of the season.
