Grindeanu, warning for Bolojan: You became prime minister with PSD votes / Appreciation for Nicușor Dan: He understood his constitutional role very well

The president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, continued his attacks on Ilie Bolojan on Friday, whom he accused of “not understanding that he is the prime minister of a coalition of which the PSD is also a part.” Grindeanu also commented on the positioning of Nicușor Dan in the Coalition conflict, saying that “he understood very well his constitutional role, that of being a mediator”.
- Approximately 5,000 PSD members will vote, on Monday, April 20, whether or not they will withdraw their political support for Prime Minister Bolojan in the consultation that Sorin Grindeanu first announced more than 5 months ago, at the beginning of December.
Grindeanu: From Monday we will have a new political reality
Grindeanu claimed, on Friday, in a press conference in Sighetu Marmaţiei, that he called for decency to the governing partners, so that they would stop giving lessons to the social democrats, but “they did not stop”:
“We are the most important party in the Parliament, we have a 45% share in the governing coalition, we do not impose anything on the other governing partners. About two weeks ago, before Easter, we made a call for decency. The call was to the other governing partners, decency related to certain lessons they are trying to give us, they did not stop, about good growth or how we should behave. The PSD will decide and they will decide any 5,000 people a month. For us, not for the others.”
The leader of the PSD said that “from Monday it will be a new political reality, not only for the PSD, but also for the PNL, and for the USR, and even for the AUR, to which some will want to ally themselves, to form a new coalition”: “We are not imposing anything on anyone. And it is not our desire, nor do I think it is decent to do these things.”
Grindeanu, to Bolojan: “You are not just the prime minister of a piece”
In the same press conference, the PSD leader again attacked Ilie Bolojan, claiming that he did not understand that he is the prime minister of a coalition and did not take into account the opinion of all parties in the coalition:
“And guess what, PSD has 45% of this coalition! You're not just the prime minister of a piece. You became prime minister with PSD votes. Almost half. You wouldn't become prime minister only if you were the president of the PNL who took 14%. And then it's decent to take into account everyone in this coalition. Which didn't happen.”
However, Grindeanu claimed that, “personally”, he has “a relationship of mutual respect” with Ilie Bolojan, whom he says he helped while I was Minister of Transport for various projects he had at the Bihor County Council: “And I did it as honestly as possible”.
Grindeanu, about Nicușor Dan: “He understood his constitutional role very well”
The PSD leader also commented on the positions of Nicușor Dan, claiming that, although the PSD does not have a common history with the president, he noted that he understood his constitutional role, that of a mediator.
“I think that President Nicusor Dan, from what I have seen so far, understood very well his position, the constitutional position, that of being a mediator. President Nicusor Dan was a political opponent of the PSD, whether he ran for the local elections, for the City Hall, in 2016, for example, he was defeated by Gabi Firea. In 2020, his lordship defeated Gabi Firea. It was not our candidate for the presidential elections. We don't have a common political history with President Nicusor Dan, but that doesn't mean that I don't see that he understood very well and expressed this yesterday, from what I saw in the news, he understood very well his constitutional role, that of being a mediator”, said Sorin Grindeanu, quoted by News.ro
He argued that if he came to the aid of any party, then the president would be breaking the law: “I don't think the president of the country, if he understands his role, can be the help for any party or the other. He would be breaking the law if he did that.”
Nicușor Dan said, Thursday evening, on Europa FM, that he maintains his equidistant position in the political crisis between PSD and PNL: “All options are currently on the table.”
“The simplest thing would be to be on one side or the other. In this collective emotion, if you support Bolojan, others will reproach you that their standard of living has decreased because of you, if you don't support him, you will be accused of opposing reform. In my position, if I don't choose a camp, it's bad, but we still have to move this country forward,” commented Nicușor Dan.
He said that it is obvious that Ilie Bolojan will not resign as a result of PSD's request, so the response to the crisis will come from the two parties.
“I am looking at all possible scenarios, but I do not have a constitutional attribute to intervene on some of these scenarios. Now I see that it is a dispute between two parties in the coalition, and for now that is not up to me. When it is up to me, I will come up with a balanced solution,” the president said
