Jamie Murray announces retirement from tennis: 'I'm excited to get into the real world'

My tennis journey ends after 36 years. I feel very lucky and privileged for all the amazing experiences this wonderful sport has given me.

Thank you to Mum, Dad, Andy, Ale, Alan, Louis and Thomas for all your incredible support, efforts and sacrifices throughout my career that have allowed me to achieve the best I can in the game. To everyone else who has helped and supported me – I appreciate you all! Excited to enter the real world!” was the message of Jamie Murray, transmitted through social networks.

Jamie Murray's first Grand Slam triumph came at Wimbledon in 2007 in the mixed doubles, where he was paired with Jelena Jankovic. Later, Andy Murray's brother prevailed once more on the London grass, over 10 years later, when he paired with Martina Hingis.

Along with Martina Hingis, Jamie Murray prevailed in 2017 at the US Open, a tournament that he would win 3 times in a row, the last two victories coming with Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

The two Grand Slam trophies in men's doubles in 2016, at the Australian Open and the US Open, were won alongside Bruno Soares.
