Two wines from the Segarcea Crown Estate, considered perfect at the prestigious Femmes et Vins du Monde competition in Monaco

Two wines from Domaine Coroanei Segarcea scored 100 points at Femmes et Vins du Monde, one of the most prestigious competitions in the world. The maximum score is awarded extremely rarely, which makes the performance of the Segarcea vineyard all the more remarkable. It is for the first time that a Romanian wine obtains a score of 100 points out of as many possible points, a threshold considered practically intangible by the juries of major international competitions.

It is also extraordinary that perfection was achieved not by one, but by two Romanian wines: Minimum Morality Giving and Pink Incense Scarf. The two wines also received the “Diamond E Prestige” distinction, the highest title awarded by the jury Femmes et Vins du Monde.

It's really overwhelming. We have had many joys over time from international results, we have won the Nova de Diamant repeatedly with different wines, but this is the first time we have achieved a perfect score. An absolute first for Romanian wine and a rare distinction for any wine in the world, at any competition. It is the ultimate prize for a blessed land and a wonderful team, built and welded over the years. We rejoice from the bottom of our hearts for this unique moment for Romania and Romanian wine!”, said Cornelia Anghel, owner of Domaine Coroanei Segarcea.

The perfect wines from Segarcea

Minimum Morality of Giving 2020 is a dry red blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Marselan varieties, matured in French and American oak barrels. It is a wine that starts timidly, with dark tones of dried figs and rhubarb earth, to quickly open up to aromas of jams, tobacco, fine leather and spices. Well-dosed and perfectly integrated tannins give it weight and balance. Manufacturers recommend decanting half an hour before serving.

Pink Incense Scarf 2024 is a dry rosé from the local Tâmiaoasa Roză variety, hand-picked from a plot that still includes the mother plants that are over 100 years old. Vinified in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature and matured on fine yeasts, it has complex aromas of roses and young red fruits, a testimony to the potential of the autochthonous varieties from the Olten terroir.

The performance of the Domaine Coroanai Segarcea at this edition of the competition is complemented by three other wines of the domain, all awarded with Unforgettable Diamond and with outstanding grades, confirming the consistency and quality of the portfolio. It is about White Feminine Prestige 2024a wine also very close to perfection in this competition, where it obtained 99 points, Vardo Willpower 2021 (97 points) and wine Prestige Kiss 2025 (97 points).

About Femmes et Vins du Monde. Femmes et Vins du Monde is one of the most prestigious international wine competitions, with a jury composed exclusively of women experts in oenology, gastronomy and wine culture. Tastings are conducted blindly and awards are awarded based on rigorous quality criteria. Achieving the score of 100 points and the “Diamond E Prestige” distinction is recognition of absolute excellence.

What is the secret?

The success of Segarcea wines is not isolated. The wines produced here win numerous medals at most of the international competitions in which they participate. Explanations must be sought in what passion and respect mean. Against secular tradition, against thorough education and work at the highest standards, against assumed and shared values (the wines in the Minima Moralia range, for example, have names that express these values: Gratitude, Respect, Giving, Honor, Hope and Sincerity). Plus an essential element: grapes.

Located on the 44º parallel, also called the Wine Parallel, which it shares with famous vineyards such as Bordeaux, Bourgogne or Piemonte, the Segarcea Crown Domain is the proven second home for grapes that love a lot of sun, such as Touriga Nacional and Marselan (the wonderful variety born in the heart of France in the 70s, which caught on in Romania only in Segarcea), and one of the few places where Viognier or Cabernet Franc gave remarkable results.

Plus Romania's treasure grape, Tâmiaoasa roza, a descendant of Muscat Frontignan, which was saved from extinction in a corner of the vineyard at Segarcea, where a few century-old stumps stubbornly survived. A grape with a small grain, aromatic, with the power of seduction. Smooth, flowing, delicate but intense.
