What a difference! How the moment of silence in memory of Mircea Lucescu showed at Galatasaray

Galatasaray drew Sunday night with Kocaelisporscore 1-1, in a match of stage #29 of the Super Lig. The match at Ali Sami Yen was preceded by a moment of silence in memory of Mircea Lucescu, the Romanian coach who won a title and a European Supercup with the Turkish group.

The moment was impressive. The club broadcast video images of the Romanian coach during his time at Galatasaray on the scoreboard, and some of the fans burst into tears.

The whole stadium froze. In addition to the moment of silence that moved even the players, fans in the northern sector displayed a banner with the message “We will not forget you”.

At Galatasaray, Mircea Lucescu brought a title, a European Super Cup, but also a quarter of the Champions League in the 2000-2001 season, where it was eliminated by Real Madrid. Mircea Lucescu also coached in the Super Lig at rival Besiktas and was also the Turkish coach.

A moment of silence in memory of Mircea Lucescu also took place at the National Arena yesterday at the match FCSB – Oțelul Galați, score 4-0. Mircea Lucescu's face was also displayed on the scoreboard of the Bucharest stadium, but due to the missing LEDs in the “cube” of the Arena, the image showed the late coach without an eye.
