According to Orlen's wholesale price list, on Friday, unleaded Eurosuper 95 petrol costs PLN 5,386 per cubic meter, which is PLN 29 less than the day before, while Ekodiesel diesel oil costs PLN 6,810 per cubic meter, which is PLN 7 more than the day before.

Previously, on Thursday, the company reduced the wholesale prices of both these basic fuels – in the case of unleaded Eurosuper 95 gasoline by PLN 90, to PLN 5,415 per cubic meter, and in the case of Ekodiesel diesel oil by PLN 147, to PLN 6,803 per cubic meter.

Friday is another day when maximum fuel prices apply at all stations throughout Poland, introduced on March 31 as part of the government regulatory package “Fuel Prices Lower”, intended to limit the increase in prices of these products.

According to the announcement of the Minister of Energy on Friday, a liter of unleaded 95 petrol costs no more than PLN 6.17, unleaded 98 petrol – PLN 6.77 and diesel oil – PLN 7.66. This means a decrease in maximum prices compared to Thursday, when unleaded 95 petrol cost a maximum of PLN 6.27 per liter, unleaded 98 petrol – PLN 6.88 per liter, and diesel oil – PLN 7.83 per liter.

On the first day of maximum fuel prices at stations, i.e. March 31, a liter of unleaded 95 petrol cost no more than PLN 6.16, unleaded 98 petrol – PLN 6.76, and diesel oil – PLN 7.60.

Maximum fuel prices are determined based on the average wholesale price of these products on the domestic market, plus excise duty, fuel fee, as well as a sales margin of PLN 0.30 per liter and VAT.

The war in the Middle East, after the US and Israel's attack on Iran on February 28, resulted in an increase in global crude oil prices, as well as in the prices of ready-made fuels, which translated into retail prices of these products at stations, including in Poland.

After temporary declines in the US oil market on Thursday, WTI contracts for April increased by 5.20%. to USD 99.32 per barrel, while May Brent futures gained 2.70%. to USD 97.31 per barrel. (PAP)
