As a result of an attack by the Ukrainian armed forces on the night from Monday to Tuesday, the oil terminal in the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad Oblast in the Russian Federation was damaged; the scale of losses incurred is currently being determined, informed the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Damage to three tanks belonging to the Transneft-Baltika company has been initially confirmed. This facility is an important element of the export infrastructure of petroleum products of the Russian Federation, and the funds obtained from its operation are allocated to the continuation of armed aggression against Ukraine,” the General Staff wrote in the Telegram messenger.
The results of Sunday's attacks were confirmed – the headquarters announced that Russian transport infrastructure facilities and oil refineries located on the Baltic coast were damaged. As a result of the impact on the Transneft-Port Primorsk port, three RVSP-20000 tanks were damaged, which led to the ignition of petroleum products. RVSP-20000 is a tank with a capacity of 20,000. cubic meters – reported the General Staff.
Reuters reported on April 2, citing three industry sources, that a reduction in oil production in Russia is inevitable because Ukrainian attacks on port infrastructure, pipelines and refineries have reduced the country's export capacity by 1 million barrels a day, or one fifth.
Russia's main Baltic port in Ust-Luga halted oil exports a week ago after intense drone attacks resulted in fires. Ukrainian drones are attacking both export infrastructure and refineries, which is why the Russian pipeline system has been blocked by excess oil and warehouses are filling up. This means that some oil fields will have to reduce production to avoid further overloading the system.
According to Reuters sources, the state-owned company Transneft – through whose pipelines over 80 percent Russian oil – informed exporters that the damaged port in Ust-Luga is unable to load oil in accordance with the original export schedule. One of the sources said that Transneft also stated that it was unable to accept full volumes of oil from producers into its system. This fuel was to be exported through the port of Ust-Ługa. (PAP)
