According to the Axios website, citing a source who has talked to the US leader several times in recent days, Trump is the most confrontational person in his administration's circles regarding Iran.
“The president is as bloodthirsty as a mad dog,” said another American official, downplaying reports that US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth or Secretary of State Marco Rubio were inciting Trump to attack Iran even more forcefully. “Compared to the president, these guys sound like doves,” the source said.
Tension is growing in the Middle East
Trump's negotiating team, which includes Vice President J.D. Vance, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, believes he should try to strike a deal now if possible.
Two other Axios sources indicated that the plan for a massive US-Israeli bombing campaign against Iranian energy facilities is ready to be implemented as soon as Trump gives the order.
“Trump would agree to an agreement if he got it, but it is not clear whether the Iranians are ready. The situation will be extremely tense until Tuesday,” said an American source close to the US president.
