10 places in Bucharest where we can order artisan cakes and the Easter meal

They say there is no Easter without a cake on the table. Fortunately, Bucharest has been filled with bakeries and confectioneries that treat cozonac with the respect it deserves: with clean ingredients, generous fillings and recipes that reflect the fact that someone put their heart into it, not just pressed a button. In the same way, to order the Easter meal there are enough options in the capital.

  • We took the city (and the windows) for a walk and made a selection of cakes that are worth every slice. We have also listed a few places where you can confidently order the entire Easter meal.

Rolls

Sweetology (Calea Victoriei 122)

For those who don't want to make a mistake, at Sweetology they can order the classic version with walnut and cocoa: a fluffy cake with a dense, creamy and aromatic filling, exactly as you remember it from childhood – simple, but made like the world. But if you're the type who wants “everything”, the premium version takes things to another level, combining walnut and cocoa with juicy raisins and fine pieces of shit, in a soft and well-raised dough, perfect for long festive meals. A 1 kg cozonac costs 135 lei, and for those who avoid sugar there is also a sugar-free option, with walnut and cocoa, sweetened with maltitol, for 149 lei.

Zelateria (Aviatorilor 65)

Among the most sought-after confectioners in Bucharest are those from Zelateria (Bld. Aviatorilor 65), the place where Ana Consulea, one of the best-known confectioners in Romania, makes her living. The offer here includes syrupy cozonac (160 lei / piece, 1 kg), heavily soaked in alcohol (maybe it's not a very good idea to get behind the wheel if you eat half of it), alongside the classic one (165 lei / piece, 1.2 kg). Of course, at Zexe you can also find pasca (160 lei / piece, 1 kg) or other sweet treats that go on the Easter table. You can find them all here, plus all the details you need to order them ahead of time.

Core (Mendeleev 43)

The first Easter in the new space on Mendeleev 43 brings a lot of excitement and hustle and bustle in the bakery for those from Miez (one of the most appreciated atrizal bakeries in the city), and preparations are already in full swing. They opened the order list for bread, muffins and babka, with direct pickup from the location on April 10th and 11th, just before the holidays. For those who do not manage to order in time, the products available freely, dedicated to last-minute decisions, will also be announced. The prices are: Cozonac with walnut cream – 150 lei/1 kg; Cake with walnut cream, raisins and shit – 150 lei/1 kg;

Casa del Pan (Poland 89)

Daniel Ion has immense experience in the gastronomic field, with over 25 years of activity as a baker and participant in training courses in Spain, Switzerland, France and Italy. The bakery products made by him at Casa del Pan are popular with even the most discerning customers. He recently announced the order list for Easter cookies is open.

A classic cozonac (1100g) costs 140 lei and pasca (1000g), 120 lei. Orders can be taken exclusively by phone at the bakery, on 0725 968 149, and payment is made in advance.

BaKings (Ilarie Chendi 28)

At BaKings, the cake is not just a seasonal dessert, but a real demonstration of patience and well-chosen ingredients. The dough is thoroughly kneaded and left to ferment for at least 12 hours, then enriched with raisins, orange peel and candied orange, for extra flavor. The filling is generous, with lots of Romanian walnut, premium cocoa and orange shit, and everything is lightly syruped and glazed for a final result that confirms to you that there is still room for “one more slice”. To top it off, their pasca – doughless but extremely creamy, made from fresh cottage cheese and cream cheese – comes with well-syruped raisins and subtle flavors of vanilla and citrus, making it the kind of dessert that disappears quickly from the table. Both the cakes and the pasca cost 150 lei. Orders are limited, so advance planning becomes almost mandatory – 0772144660 or [email protected]

Tartelicious (Brezoianu 35)

And at Tartelicious, the Easter season comes with desserts that don't go unnoticed, from babka and scones to a pascha that has already become a star. Orders are open until April 5, with flexible pick-up, established directly with each customer, from the “tartăria” on Brezoianu 35. The pièce de résistance is pasca without dough, a creamy and intense dessert, made mainly of mascarpone, eggs and a generous mix of alcoholic raisins and cranberries, macerated for days, complemented by notes of orange, lemon and rum. The result? A kilo of indulgence that manages to convince even those who usually say they are not fans of Easter. A cozonac costs 130 lei, and a pasca 160 lei. Sweet or salty babka 110 lei.

HUG (West 8-10)

In HUG's Easter offer, the muffins come in several variants – from the classic with lots of walnuts, Dezaan cocoa and dark chocolate, to versions with orange peel or even vegan options, with almond milk, dates and a subtle twist of turmeric. In addition, the pasca with cream cheese, cranberries and vanilla brings a perfect balance between sweet and sour, and the cornuclettes, whether classic or vegan, with magiun and walnut, complete the festive table. Orders are picked up on April 10th and 11th, directly from their location on Strada Occidentului. The muffins cost 145 lei, only the vegan one is 164 lei, the pasca costs 149 lei, and the cornulets 64 or 69 lei / kg.
