Data for January 2026 show that Poles are again in first place among European tourists visiting Malta. Basically, only one nation can compete with us.
In the first month of this year, Malta was visited over 44.1 thousand tourists from Poland, which means an increase of 43.2%. compared to the same period a year earlier. In January 2025, 30.8 thousand people arrived in Malta. Polish guests.
Such an impressive result gave Poles first place among European nations visiting Malta. The next places were taken by guests from Great Britain (40.7 thousand) and Italy (31.6 thousand).
According to the data, Poland has long been among the fastest growing tourism markets for the Maltese tourism industry. The increase in the number of arrivals is particularly visible in the autumn and winter months and during the so-called long weekends, when Poles are increasingly willing to choose short trips to the warm, Mediterranean climate.

Expect a lot of people in Malta
When going to Malta, you have to take into account that it will be difficult to escape from other people. Even without tourists, it is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. According to data from 2024, it has over 560,000. inhabitants on an area of approximately 316 square kilometers, which is slightly smaller than Kraków.
At the same time, according to estimates, in January 2026, as many as 235,000 people arrived there. 772 tourists, which is an increase of 21.4%. compared to the same month in 2025
In total, they spent approximately EUR 178.9 million on accommodation, which translates into EUR 129.6 million per night, i.e. over PLN 500.
