A surprising appeal from Tehran. Iran asks US citizens not to believe 'fabricated narratives'

Iran has no hostility towards ordinary residents of the United States, wrote Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian in a letter to Americans, quoted by the website of the Iranian station Press TV.

In his letter, Pezeszkian claims that portraying Iran as a threat “is neither consistent with historical reality nor with currently observed facts.” The president called on the American public not to be fooled by “fabricated narratives.”

“Relations between Iran and the United States were not initially hostile.” – Pezeszkian emphasized. In his opinion, the turning point was 1953, when the US engaged in a coup in Iran and overthrew Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh after he nationalized the Iranian oil industry.

Iran sought negotiations, reached an agreement and fulfilled all its obligations, Pezeshkian assured, referring to the time immediately preceding the US and Israeli attack on Iran.

He accused Washington of got involved in the war in the Middle East as “a puppet of Israel“.

US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday on the Truth Social platform that the “president of the new Iranian regime” had asked the United States for a ceasefire. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Bagei then denied these reports, calling them false and baseless.

Trump is expected to announce in his evening speech on Wednesday that the war with Iran will last about two to three weeks, which he also announced on Tuesday. The armed conflict has been going on since February 28, when the US and Israel attacked Iran, which responded by firing at military and civilian targets in the Middle East. (PAP)
