“Need higher.” Zelensky named the percentage of Russian Shahed being shot down

According to him, most of the Russian UAVs were shot down by the defense forces.

“The percentage of hits during this day is quite high: about 90%, but, of course, it needs to be higher. Unfortunately, there were hits, in particular in the Volyn region, Transcarpathian region, Ternopil region, Chernivtsi region, Cherkasy region, Frankivsk region, and also in other regions,” the head of state noted.

From 18.00 on March 31 to 8.00 on April 1, the Russian Federation used 339 drones, 298 of which were neutralized, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported. After this, the occupying forces continued the drone attack, releasing 361 UAVs, 345 were shot down, 14 hits were recorded, the military noted.

During the day, the Russian Federation attacked mainly the western regions of Ukraine. In Transcarpathia, Prykarpattya and Bukovina, power outages were recorded; in the Ternopil region, the occupiers hit an enterprise; explosions were heard in the Lviv region. In the Cherkasy region, four people died. At night, the Russians also attacked Lutsk and Khmelnitsky.

Zelensky clarified that energy facilities were among the main targets of the Russian occupiers.

“In fact, this is the Russians’ response to our proposal for a ceasefire for Easter. Ukraine openly made such a proposal to Russia. Russia responds to Shahed and continues its terrorist operations against our energy, against our infrastructure,” he said.

Context

On March 30, Zelensky, during a conversation with reporters, said that Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays and for an energy truce.

“We are ready for any compromises, except compromises with our dignity and sovereignty,” he said.

The speaker of the illegitimate president of the aggressor country of Russia, Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, said on April 1 that the Kremlin did not see a “clearly formulated initiative” in Zelensky’s proposal for a truce for Easter.
