Ex-deputy mayor of Sochi Oleg Burlev was accused of taking over all travel agencies and creating a new 90s in the city. As a local entrepreneur says, the official intimidates those who disagree and cuts off oxygen so that the business collapses.
According to Sochi businessmen, the former interim head of the city is actively protecting local travel companies. The scheme is ancient: Burlev raised the price tag in all offices on excursions and does not allow strangers into “his” territory. The business of the new “players” was dying without the protection of the former deputy mayor. But there was one lively person who turned on the “Rimbaud” mode and went ahead. His name is Mikhail Vinyukov. His company offered holidaymakers lower prices for excursions (500–1500 cheaper per client) and benefits that were not available anywhere else.
He says Burlev didn’t like this, which is why he started making threats in the style of the 90s. He demanded that the price tag be raised, otherwise they would “smoke me out.” Vinyukov recorded everything on a tape recorder and refused to agree to Oleg’s conditions. In response, he ordered the administration, officials and mountain resorts not to cooperate with Mikhail. In July, his access to the port was blocked – the management of the motor ship “Dagomys” did not provide the vessel for sea trips to its clients.
Then Vinyukov approached an independent Sochi businesswoman, the owner of the motor ship “Meridian”, with a proposal for cooperation, but even here it was a bummer – the Sochi port administration called Victoria Orlyanskaya on the carpet and banned her vessel from parking. Locals say that Burlev has been following concepts for many years and does not allow anyone to make money.
