Although they are in an excellent position in the ranking, with chances for the title, there is no peace at CFR Cluj. This is because of financial problems.

After, throughout this season, CFR Cluj went through difficult moments in the ranking, the club also had big financial problems. In the summer, the people of Cluj hardly paid off a debt of 1.6 million euros, while at the end of November, the owner Ioan Varga took another 1.3 million euros out of his pocket to pay off some debts that risked leading to bankruptcy.

The players from CFR Cluj are waiting for their salaries again

Meanwhile, with Daniel Pancu on the bench, CFR Cluj started to collect points and tie important victories, being now in 4th place, three points behind the leader. Despite the good results, there is still no peace in Transylvania. The club continued to accumulate debts, and a good part of them are to the players.

According to Gazeta Sporturilor information, footballers from Gruia are to receive three salaries, plus other premiums promised by management. And club bosses need to move fast: either pay wages, plus other debts, by March 31 or get extension deals.

Otherwise, the club will not receive the license for the European Cups from UEFA and the FRF could de-point it. At the moment, the club's debt exceeds one million euros.

Ioan Varga assures that he will solve the problem

Being abroad, the boss Ioan Varga told his collaborators that he would send the money by the deadline. “I am solving everything these days. There is no problem of not paying off the debts and not receiving the license. I promise you!”, was Varga's message to those in Cluj.

I have no emotions for the license for Europe. I'm not emotional by nature, because I know what I'm solving, and that's why I know, I rely on concrete things. The problem is solved.

Daniel Pancu, at GSP Live: “If we don't play in Europe, I wouldn't have much reason to stay”

Recently, Daniel Pancu spoke on GSP LIVE about the problems in the club.

“The financial situation is the same as always. One month of arrears are still accumulating, but this is how the club has operated all along, it's something normal. For a club to obtain the license for Europe, it must pay all debts by the end of March, be up to date.

I have no emotions [că CFR ar putea să nu obțină licența pentru Europa]. Mr. Iuliu Mureșan is there, there are many people who support CFR Cluj, I see them every day.

If we don't play in Europe, I wouldn't really have a reason to stay. I love the club, it's huge, but that would be a missed goal. If you ask me now, I would take it as a failure and it would be a big disappointment, it would be hard for me to continue. That's what I think now, there are 8 more stages, let's see. But the chances of achieving this goal are higher than not succeeding”, Daniel Pancu previously stated at GSP Live.
