The information was revealed by Italian journalist Nicolo Schiara: “Simone Inzaghi wants Francesco Acerbi at Al Hilal from July. His contract with Inter expires in June and will not be extended. Negotiations have started.”
Brought up by Brescia, Francesco Acerbi has played for Pavia, Reggina, Genoa, Chievo Verona, AC Milan, Sassuolo, Lazio and Inter throughout his career.
This Serie A season, Acerbi has only made 14 appearances under Cristi Chivu, often being just an unused substitute. The centre-back also has 5 matches this season in the Champions League, a competition that Inter exited in the round of 16 after 2-5 overall.
The first two trophies of his career came with Lazio, with whom he won a Coppa Italia and a Supercoppa Italia.
Since joining Inter, Acerbi has won one Coppa Italia and two Italian Super Cups, in addition to the Serie A triumph in the 2023-24 season.
Acerbi also has two Champions League finals played for Inter, both lost, 0-1 with Manchester City in 2023 and 0-5 with PSG in 2025.
Acerbi also has 34 caps for Italy's first national team, with whom he won the European Championship in 2021. The “Squadra Azzura” then defeated England 3-2 in penalty kicks, after 1-1 in regular time.
