Tons of KitKats disappeared on the way to Poland. Company: there will be problems before Easter

The statement of the KitKat company, owned by the Swiss concern Nestle, is quoted by the French daily “Le Monde”. The shipment, weighing approximately 12 tons, went missing last week while being transported between production and distribution sites. “A truck carrying 413,000 793 pieces of a new series of chocolates was stolen during transport in Europe,” we read in the message, which did not indicate the specific place of the theft.

It is known that the truck that disappeared left central Italy and was heading to Poland. The bars were to be distributed to countries along the way.

The company warns that the theft could lead to a “shortage of KitKats on shelves” and consumers “may struggle to find their favorite chocolates before Easter.” It also indicates that the stolen sweets may end up in unofficial sales channels in Europe.

“Investigations are ongoing in close cooperation with local authorities and supply chain partners,” the company said.
