“On March 27, we mark an event that defines our nation. After a long occupation of our land by the Russian Empire, which tried to erase our identity, our language, our national dignity, the Union of 1918 meant a vital return to the family. Who knows what our fate would have been today if that historic act had not taken place? The historical truth must be known and spoken: the brave step 108 years ago gave our nation the power to resist the subsequent Soviet occupation, to carry on its traditions, the Romanian language, to demand its well-deserved place as part of the free world. Even though step-times have separated us, Romania he is close to us, with care and constant support”noted the leader from Chisinau on his Facebook page.
Maia Sandu emphasized that together with Romania, the Republic of Moldova will succeed in joining the European Union.
“Let's return to the European family, modernize and protect our democracy and peace“, also mentioned the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.

Romania remains the most stable and reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova. We speak the same language, share the same values and traditions and build together a future in peace and prosperity. The highest form of honoring the Day of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania is to continue the work started: to strengthen our economic relations, to ensure the energy independence of the country and to ensure that the future of our children is one of freedom, in a united European family”.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers concluded his message, bringing congratulations “to all those who feel and live Romanian on both banks of the Prut!”.

“We mark the Union of Bessarabia with Romania, an act of national will that established the unity of race, language and destiny. This date remains a landmark of our common dignity and aspirations. It is an important moment for all Romanians, in which we celebrate the ever closer connection between the two banks of the Prut. In recent years, each of us has felt Romania's constant support. Romania was with us during the pandemic, it has been with us for more than four years, since we have had a war at the border, it supports us when we are left in the cold and in the dark, it supports us in our European journey and it promptly intervened to help the other days, when the Dniester River was polluted following Russian aggression. The best way to honor that historic moment is to strengthen the ties between the people on both banks of the Prut. And that's what we do! Thank you, Romania! Congratulations, dear Romanians!“, concluded the leader of the power from Chisinau.
On March 27, 2026, 108 years have passed since the Union of Bessarabia with Romania, a document adopted in Chisinau that was the cornerstone brought to the foundation of reunification.
