The margin reduction by Orlen stabilizes prices on the market – said Wojciech Balczun, Minister of State Assets, in Polsat News. Potential issues that may be considered in the future include excise duty, VAT and discussions about the Excessive Profits Act.

“Orlen is constantly taking steps to minimize the effects of increases (fuel prices – PAP) on society (…), therefore it minimizes the retail margin as much as possible without being able to act to the detriment of the company. Other instruments are in the hands of the state. What is crucial for us is securing supplies, stability, so that there are no shortages at gas stations. Orlen can manage its margin and this is within its scope (…). Orlen's margin movement stabilizes prices” – assessed Balczun.
“The issue of excise duty, VAT, and perhaps in the future discussions on the Excessive Profits Act – this is also potentially being considered. There is no simple solution. We have a daily, crisis mode of work at the headquarters,” he added. (PAP Business)
