What a big name from the Superliga wanted physical trainer Thomas Neubert and what the German says about restoring the tandem with Laurentiu Reghecampf: “It depends on me…”.

Neubert, 57, left FCSB together with the coaches Mihai Pintilii and Elias Charalambous. The new technician, Rădoi, insisted on coming to the red-blues with his own staff.

Now, the German is in charge of the sports performance and testing center he opened in Romania.

Thomas Neubert, on the “2 to 1” podcast: “I had two offers, one from Saudi Arabia, one from Romania”

On the “2 to 1” podcast, Neubert was asked if Superliga teams have offered him recently. “Probable”he replied, laughing.

Asked punctually about a possible interest of the University of Craiova, Neubert confirmed that the Oltenians wanted him, but in the past: “Not now. It used to be, yes, but not now”.

  • In recent years, Craiova University has collaborated with several former FCSB employees: Reghecampf, Gâlcă, Toni Petrea, even a video analyst, Marius Francisc.

“Who were the offers from? One from Saudi Arabia and one from Romania. I refused both”reveals Neubert. Why? “I don't know if I'll work in League 1 again. Now I'm very happy, because it's the first time, after 16 years, that I'm without a club and without a team. It's not really a vacation, but I no longer have the pressure of daily training. Now my wife makes the schedule, she's the boss!”.

Thomas Neubert: “I don't know if I want to work in professional football anymore”

6 years have passed since Neubert stopped teaming up with Laurentiu Reghecampf, the first coach he collaborated with in Romania. “We were last together in Dubai (no – at Al-Wasl)in 2020, then I returned to Romania (no – at FCSB)and he went to other parts. At the moment, we are in normal relations. We don't talk every day, like before, but that's normal”, says the German.

“Will we work together again? It's up to me. I don't know if I want to work in professional football anymore. I'm happy with the situation now”concluded Neubert.
