The head of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Willie Walsh, told Reuters on Thursday that an increase in air ticket prices is inevitable as a result of the ongoing war in the Middle East.

– An increase in ticket prices is inevitable, said Walsh.
In his opinion, the war that started on February 28 with the American-Israeli attack on Iran will not benefit anyone.
Although the rise in oil prices following Iran's attacks on petrochemical installations in the Persian Gulf region has shaken the aviation market, according to Walsh, the current crisis has not yet reached the level of problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hard landing for travelers. Airline tickets are up to PLN 300 more expensive
The war in the Persian Gulf is disrupting the global economy. The aviation industry has already had a capsize. In Europe, the price of aviation fuel increased by over 100%, and in Asia – which imported even more fuel from the Middle East – by as much as 300%. Currently, jet fuel is two or even three times more expensive than the crude oil from which it is made. This is the largest disproportion in history.
Global demand for airline tickets is still strong, but if the conflict continues and leads to aviation fuel shortages, carriers will begin to reduce it, said the head of IATA. (PAP)
