To say that the Temu platform is popular in our country is actually an understatement. After years of Allegro's dominance in Poland, at the beginning of 2026, the Chinese shopping platform overtook Allegro in the number of real users.
As we reported in February, Temu had 20.34 million e-commerce users (Real Users) on all devices in January 2026, as shown by the Mediapanel study. Second in order was Allegro, which had 18.9 million users (Real Users).

Poles' willingness to buy on the Chinese shopping platform suits the company, which quickly conquered the global market thanks to aggressive discounts and a wide range of products – from electronics to fashion.
The platform stands out for free shipping (if conditions are met), short delivery times and a 90-day returns policy. The business model is based on cooperation with many external sellers, which allows it to offer very low prices.

The platform operates on a marketplace basis, connecting buyers directly with sellers, most of whom operate in China. Thanks to this, customers have access to a wide selection of products at extremely competitive prices. This aspect seems to be the greatest magnet for consumers in Poland.
Even controversies related to the questionable quality of some products, as well as the often ridiculed (even in pop culture) inadequacy of the facts to the descriptions or photos, do not seem to discourage bargain hunters.
Is Temu safe? Opinions, principles of operation and purchases
This seems to offer Poles a shopping option that is not burdened with any burden. This seemingly perfect image of profitable shopping, however, has one catch. It's security and customer data management.
As Bitdefender.pl explains, the platform collects a wide range of information: from personal data such as name and address to more sensitive data such as IP address and web browsing habits.
There have been reports in the past that have suggested that Temu may also contain malware. This follows a scandal involving Temu's parent company, PDD Holdings, which had another platform (Pinduoduo) removed from the Google app store for containing malware.

Low prices on this cause doubts
Customer data – which is the most valuable currency in the digital world – is not only used to improve the shopping experience, but is also shared with affiliated companies and advertising partners. This is why attractively priced but aggressive advertising and marketing purchases may arouse suspicion among buyers who care about their privacy.
Moreover, doubts also arise regarding the surprisingly low – downright dumping – prices of the products. Sometimes it is hard to believe that the amounts paid by customers are sufficient to produce a given product. This – as Bitdefender.pl explains – may indicate potential ethical concerns, such as employee exploitation, counterfeit goods or low-quality materials.
In addition, Temu has already faced accusations of stealing projects. Independent artists, record labels, and producers of proprietary goods have raised the issue of their designs being copied and sold on Temu without their consent.
