The TestVot 2025 (Advice Application) app made by Median Research Center (MRC) and OpenPolitics.ro, can help you find out how candidates are positioned in this year's presidential elections..

The testvot app has been available at all 2008 elections to date.

“Whether you know who you will vote with, from the testvot you can find out more about the vision and positions of the candidates in the presidential elections of 2025 on issues that concerned the Romanians,” say the authors of the application.

“Of course, when we decide if and with whom we vote we are motivated by several things – such as the desire to express what we feel or trust in certain parties or people. But it is useful to know the positions of the two candidates to understand what we can expect from each, with what they have in common and to be able to verify, to be able to verify,

The version for the presidential elections of 2025 has 26 statements with two response variants (agree / do not agree). You can also mark if one thing is particularly important for you, an action that will give it a greater weight in the final calculation.

As in previous years, the authors of the application say that they sought to reflect themes that:

  • they are related to the role of the president and the relationship of the president with the government, the Parliament and other key institutions;
  • differences of vision and ideas between candidates and the parties that support them;
  • are of high interest in citizens;
  • They are addressed by the candidates or the parties that support them (preferably in the electoral programs, their campaign materials or in statements to which we can make a direct reference).

The positions were coded using the following sources: the electoral programs of the candidates; The governing programs of the parties that support the statements of the candidates (speeches, interviews, debates, etc.).

“There were some questions that I could not identify a position. This is not unusual, according to studies in political science. Politicians often try to avoid clear positioning on some problems that opponents are clear and place great emphasis,” say the authors.

If a user has taken a position on a question but a particular candidate does not, this situation manages this situation: because the candidate's position could be either “against” or “against”, the distance from the respondent is calculated for the two scenarios, and this average is treated as the probable distance between the respondent and the candidate on that problem.

“Because our main goal is to inform the public about these themes and the positions of the candidates, we do not force the classification in a” left-right “type grid, especially since the formations in our country are quite concerned about the ideological coherence. We do not force any positions of the candidates, if there is no credible information,”
