Switzerland has refused the overflight request of two US military planes

The Swiss government announced that it refused the request of the United States for two American military planes to fly over its territory because of the war in Iran, dpa and Reuters reported on Sunday, taken over by Agerpres.
The Swiss authorities invoked the country's neutrality law, which prohibits overflights of parties involved in the conflict for military purposes. The US request referred to two military reconnaissance aircraft.
“The law of neutrality prohibits overflights by parties involved in the conflict that have a military purpose related to it. Humanitarian and medical flights, including the transport of injured persons, as well as flights unrelated to the conflict, are permitted,” the Swiss government said in a statement.
However, three other flights, one maintenance and two transport flights, related to the conflict in Iran, were approved by the Swiss government.
Swiss officials said that overflights for humanitarian or medical purposes, such as transporting the wounded, are permitted, as are non-conflict-related flights.
Switzerland specified that future requests to fly over its territory will be rejected if they exceed normal traffic and if the purpose of these flights cannot be determined.
